The artificial lake of origin, was made for several reasons, but the most important thing is the water supply that this area required. Another important aspect for which the lake was built was the regulatory regime flooding of the Arno river. Today there are several projects planned for the future of the lake, such as bathing areas, car parks, large gardens with trees, pedestrian areas and for sports enthusiasts, the opportunity to enjoy sailing, windsurfing and not least, fishing . This last activity is one of the most practiced currently in the area, in fact there are many species of fish that proliferate the deep waters of Bilancino.
